The files in this directory relate to information about the land cover types in PA. 

palandcov_stats 	Excel format spreadsheet. Contains the total areas for each land cover type 
			intersected with stewardship status and ownership. Columns are from each major 
			land manager and stewardship status and rows are land cover types.

pagap17.xls		Excel format spreadsheet. Contains the total areas and percent areas 
			for each landcover type	intersected with stewardship lands. Columns are from each 
			major land manager and rows represent land protection status. 



Row Definitions
===============

Status-1	Human disturbance of habitat legally prohibited (excepting managed access and/or interpretation) and non-human disturbance is not controlled unless it threatens human life or property. 
Status-2	Naturalistic areas with a legal mandate prohibiting conversion to humanistic/cultural development. 
Status-3	Any additional permanent conversion of lands to humanistic/cultural development uses is restricted by legal mandates. 
Status-4	No legal restriction on additional permanent conversion of lands. 

Note: Status lands 1 through 4 do not add up to the total area for the land cover type. Missing is other private lands with status 4.  The area of this land can be found at the top of each analysis table for a land cover type next to "Misc. status 4". The total land cover type area, including all status codes areas and misc lands, is found at the top of the table next to the land cover type name.

TOTAL	Total of status land across all holdings


NPS%	Percent of status land managed by National Park Service
USFS%	Percent of status land managed by United States Forest Service
USFWS%	Percent of status land managed by United States Fish and Wildlife Service
PA_SP%	Percent of status land managed by Pennsylvania State Park
PA_SGL%	Percent of status land managed by Pennsylvania State Game 
PA_SF%	Percent of status land managed by Pennsylvania State Forest
LOCAL%	Percent of status land managed by Local or county government
CONS%	Percent of status land managed by Private conservancy
TOTAL%	Percent of total habitat that has a given status.
